Look what Meg has been up to!! These are thumbnails, you can click to see a larger version. The go from most recent to oldest. I have gotten many e-mails asking where I get the Lili of Paris and the Painting Red Rhino fabrics.  These are overruns from the maker, available for short periods of time.  Once they are gone they are gone.  You can find some at SewZanne's and at Valley Glen Goods.  If you  join my Yahoo Groups, you can sometimes find a co-op that is selling them or similar fabric.  I also have a long list of online fabric and pattern resources here.

My best sewing hints, these are the difference between "homemade" and "handmade" :

Use an iron
Have the seam ripper near by (and use it!)
Use a double needle to finish seams
When your needle skips stitches, change it!  That means it's dull
Use a ball point needle for knits, a sharp needle for wovens
Have your machines serviced every year

Training pantsFinally finished this UFO (unfinished object) peasant top and shorts.Kwik Sew Jammies, with cherry fabric from SewZanne's
Baby in her Lili top and matching pants.  The top was made using the KS pattern, medium (wowza! what a big baby) and the pants were made from Ottobre Winter 2003  pattern.
"My Ice Cream Dress!" Using a friend's bodice pattern, this was a fabulous addition to our Summer wardrobe.  She has now asked for Ice Cream jammies.  You can get this fabric here. Or you can try e-bay, search for PRR fabric.
Same bodice pattern, this time to make a summer beach outfit, bias tape for the ties, and SewBaby bloomers.
"Girl's Best" for my middle girl (2) , Kwik Sew swing top and cardigan.  Also matching pants but they are in the dryer.

Matching dresses for little girls out of Lili of Paris fabric.  SewBaby pattern.  I mixed up the pieces after I cut them out so the sleeves on Mary's are really 6 month size -- seems to work pretty well anyway!  I just finished making matching diapers (Goodness Gracious) for baby and leggings (Kwik Sew) for Mary.
My first union suit using the New Conceptions pattern.  Fairies PRR knit, cap is lined with white sherpa, as are the leg cuffs.
Matching PRR Bouquet knit outfits are for the little girls.  For Mary, velour pants and a knit top, for baby a knit top, velour jump suit and cap.  I am making a reversible jacket for the big girl and one to match with white sherpa and an All in One diaper for baby.
Could my little lamb really be two already?  Here is her birthday outfit.  I used a pre-made tee shirt, attached a Mary Engelbreit patch I found on a bib, and attached PRR barnyard twill for the skirt. I made matching pants of knit PRR.
Sushi fleece!  I got this great sushi microfleece fabric at JoAnn's and made sweats for the older girls and a new baby bunting for our newest addition.
Shameless copy of a friend's dress she made (thank you Kori for the inspiration)!  Dr. Seuss lime woven for the skirt, attached to an Old Navy top. I used ric-a-rack on the bottom for a little interest and fun!
My first try at reversible pants. These are for the new baby, I used the sheep PRR and white sherpa, I dyed them both red but my red is a little pink I guess. They turned out really soft and yummy!
Christmas dress! I used an Old Navy top and attached a gathered flannel skirt and pom-poms for winter fun. Added the appliqué heart for interest later.
Two gowns for the new baby.  Kwik Sew patterns, Lili of Paris knit fabric. Sometimes you can get this fabric through SewZanne's.  I also made matching blankets, pink microfleece on one side, soft knit on the other.

Next, a brag.  I taught myself to knit using these books.  Then I taught my 11 year old daughter to knit.  I can't believe how much she loves it!  We go to Starbucks once a week, just the girls (just us chickens we say) and knit.  She always attracts attention (in a positive way).  For her friend's 12th birthday, she gave her a ball of yarn, home made knitting needles, and a book on how to knit we made from printing pages off the internet.  She also knit her a little purse.  It was a smashing hit!

P2140022.JPG (44454 bytes) P1010004.jpg (25946 bytes)

Knit sweater--I used two balls of DK high quality yarn from a local yarn store (Rumplestilskin), size 11 us needles and this pattern. You can see how the two balls of yarn became one by just holding them like they were one strand.

P2140029.JPG (147219 bytes)

Knit Hat--I used size 10.5 US needles and Lion Chunky brand denim yarn.  It took about two hours all told, and fits not only Mary but Emily too!  I used this pattern

Auntie  in her 300 MM raglan sweat top, her WP pants and the Green Pepper leopard print socks! Warm??? FINALLY!

I made the baby's dress out of cotton velour patches.  My 12 year old made her own skirt to go with it!

P1010021.JPG (92341 bytes)

A little knit doll--stuffed with wool.  The yarn is also 100% wool, the head hemp jersey and the cap cotton knit.  Next time I will knit a red cap.

P1010019.JPG (124740 bytes)

Yet another dress with leggings! This time I used a receiving blanket, it was much thicker than the PRR material.

P1010020.JPG (91070 bytes)

Some butterfly dolls--I'm working on some with hemp fleece!

P1010082.JPG (200126 bytes)

WARM jammies!  I used a Stretch and Sew top pattern, and the Kwik Sew leggings, added extra ribbing for a better fit.  The pink fleece is Malden Mills® Thermal Pro fleece. I got it from the One Stop Diaper Shop It's very close to a 200 weight in thickness, but functions more like a 300 weight.  My Little Lamb has slept every night all the way through since she's been sleeping in these! Super soft too!

I used this pattern from
Kwik Sew and made My Little Lamb cotton top with microfleece pants.  It really only took me about an  hour.  I liked the pattern!  I have never used ribbing before but it worked perfectly! Now she just needs some matching shoes.....

Knit wool doll
I know it's ugly but
My Little Lamb loves her little doll! I knit this using a simple stockinet stitch.  I used wool yarn and stuffing.  Inside I put two little bells so she loves to take it around with her and shake it.  I purposely didn't 'fancy it up' because I wanted it to be an imaginative friend.  Next time I will make it out of different colors.

Aren't "ewe" a dear!
Halloween 2002
My Little Lamb!  I made this from a own pattern I created.
